SPIN TORONTO IS RECRUITING A SR MAYA ARTIST FOR A TV SERIES
Spin Toronto is seeking a Lead Maya Artist to work on a 52X 11 minute TV series.

Qualified applicants must have a minimum of 2 year TV series experience. As well as experience in Design. Must be a Canadian citizen or possess landed immigrant status and be willing to work in our downtown Toronto location.
This is a 1 year contract positions that could lead to full time for the right individual.
Start date is As Soon As Possible

3D Modeller/Texture Artist, Longtail Studios, Quebec City

Longtail Studios, in Quebec City, is looking for a 3D Modeller/Texture Artist.
Responsibilities:
  • Model characters in high polygon, low polygon and in game resolutions.
  • Create textures maps
Qualifications:
  • BA desired , 2 years experience in the videogame industry, and at least 1 shipped title.
  • Attention to high quality anatomical detail
  • Strong traditional art skills
  • Solid understanding of art fundamentals to include color theory, light, shade and form
  • Can work in a variety of styles.
  • Highly experienced in 3d max.
  • An understanding of computer graphic fundamentals and video game art production pipelines
  • An understanding of Photoshop and programs such as Zbrush or Mudbox
  • Experience in several aspects of videogame art production to include concept work, modeling, texturing, and shading.
  • Able to meet deliverables and drive your work to completion within specified timelines
  • An understanding of rigging and animation principles.
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal
  • Can work cross functionally in many areas without being constrained by your job function
  • A collaborative work ethic
  • Must currently be a resident of Canada

Lead Animator, Starz Animation, Toronto


Starz Animation, Toronto, one of Canada’s largest 3D Animation Studios, is currently in production on Miramax Film’s major animation movie, “Gnomeo and Juliet”. Directed by Kelly Asbury and with music and lyrics by legendary songwriting team ELTON JOHN & BERNIE TAUPIN, this animated feature will be released in 2011.
Position Description: Lead Animator
For: Gnomeo and Juliet
Reports to Supervising Animator and Head of Animation
Position Description and Requirements:
∑ Previous study of anatomy, perspective and composition.
∑ Demonstrated expert knowledge of timing, acting, posing and lip-synch
∑ Previous work should reflect a strong understanding of character personality, movement and storytelling.
∑ Expert knowledge of Maya
∑ Ability to meet tight deadlines
∑ Demonstrated success at working at Feature level quotas
∑ Strong problem solving skills and ability to present solutions in order to meet quotas required
∑ Clear communication style – open and responsive
∑ Ability to work in a collaborative environment, taking direction from the Supervisor and feedback from Directors(s) as necessary.
∑ Several years experience leading character animation teams on CG Feature Films

Gnomeo and Juliet -- distributed by Miramax Films -- is an animated picture directed by Kelly Asbury (Shrek 2), produced by Baker Bloodworth, David Furnish, Steve Hamilton-Shaw and with songs by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. Now in production.
